First, you will need to figure out how you are going to mount the motor, if the axels will work, and then how much electrical knowledge you have. So since your fabrication skills need to be above par I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who doesn’t have years of Honda experience. Now what you can do as far as wiring the car is finding the OBD1 or 2 harness for the engine. Finding a pin out guide to wire the motor and the ecu. Now, you will need to do your research on how to make your mounts since NO ONE makes mounts for this conversion. Now, while doing this make sure you can do it without having to put in custom axels. Likely the mounts will leave the motor sitting at an odd angle and will snap the CV joints. And then you will have to consider how you will upgrade your brakes and how to even get them to work with a much different motor in your car. You will be better off selling this car and buying a 4th gen Civic or newer 88-91. Hasport makes mounts for these cars and not as much modification is needed so you will save a lot of money. Personally, I think you should buy a 92-98 Civic as this will be the easiest to swap a GSR into. Either way, your dual carbed 87 Civic is not worth the time and money putting any B series into.
As far as the issue between the GSR and B16 turbo. Obviously the B16 w/ FI will be much faster but much less reliable. And will cost much more to maintain upkeep. The GSR has been voted many times as the best B series or even best Honda motor. Decide what you want from your motor, then how much you want to spend. Time/Money
    Goodluck

I agree with the previous answer except I have a question: Do you have an Si hatchback? The 1987 Si is fuel injected while the others were carbureted. That could make a difference since the Si is basically running the D15 used on the 1988-1991 Civic DX models
