1999 Honda Prelude. Are There Any Internals That Have To Be Changed Before Adding A Turbo More Than 10 Psi?

How many miles are on the motor? You could probly run it for a while, but eventually it will throw a rod or crap out. But hey, honda motors are a dime a dozen, throw in a new one

8 psi is all you can SAFLEY run on a stock motor. If you run more than that its not a question of IF its going to blow its WHEN. If you plan on boosting more than 8psi, you will need to completly rebuild the motor TO DO IT RIGHT!! parts I would suggest, as this is what I have in my B16, boosted everyday at 15 lbs, and at the track 25lbs. Eagle stroker crank, Eagle rods 9.0-1 compression, JE pistons, moly-file rings for pistons, cometic head gasket, Greddy timing belt, Greddy e-manage ultimate, Skunk2 intake manifold, darton sleeves, Skunk2 turbo camshafts, Skunk2 titanium retainers, Skunk2 valves, Skunk2 valve springs, ACT 6 puck sprung hub clutch, Streetlite flywheel, Greddy profec E-01 boost controller, Greddy turbo timer, My turbo is the turbonetics t3/t4 hybrid kit with the spearco intercooler. Theres probably some other stuff I probably left out. But I drive this car hard every day and have never had a problem with it in over a year. All in all it cost around $6000 for the engine build and $3300 for the turbo kit.

dont listen to the guy before me bc if u runnig 10 psi or more your stock internals won’t make it. you need need pistons and rods your crank may be able to handle that amount if its like a integra crank but idk bout the crank.hope you beefed up your head to if u runnin over 10 psi

Slapping a turbo on a stock block requires only 6psi and 7psi to make good power. But if you’re looking to boost more then 8psi you’re taking a risk to blow your motor and then get ready to spend some money. Remember that most Honda motors are high compression. To much boost on the motor will cost it to blow up due to over boost. Here is a couple of parts that you might want to look at for internals in your motor to to boost 8psi or more. LOW COMPRESSION PISTON (don’t for get piston rings), RE-SLEEVE YOUR BLOCK, PERFORMANCE OIL PUMP( recommend TODA Racing Prod), NEW RODS, ARD head stud, Cams and Valve springs. I may forget some parts but these parts are the basic set up for your B series or H series internals. It’s been a while that I touch these motors and things may change. But good luck and learn from trial and error.
