yes you need it tuned. expect a few hundred for a decent tune.
how much boost from what turbo? what injectors?
if you have no fuel management right now do not go into boost. at all. you’ll lean it out very quickly and could loose your rings, detonate and loose a rod or piston.
get a boost gauge and a wideband o2 sensor. you can tune it yourself or with a friend who knows his stuff with a logger and an afc.
or take it somewhere with a dyno. stock motor i recommend no more than 10psi max. i’d just do 8psi for a daily driver.
You have to make sure your air flow sensors know how much air is going to the engine. You also have to make sure enough fuel is coming out of the injectors(you might need bigger rails and injectors). you cant just slap on a turbo and have it magicly make your car faster. I have an aquantince that put one in a eclipse and it made it run poorly. Once you start modifying a car you have to modify evrything else because your car is set to run stock. I don’t know how much it would cost partly because I don’t know what exactly you need to do. I would suggest doing many other things to your civic before you invest the time and money into a turbo.
Ok first off older hondas don’t use air flow senors. Yes you need an tune that’s an must. Sounds like you don’t know all the ins and outs of putting a turbo on your car. So do some more research before you drive around in a untune car. Running really lean or too rich.
yes, u really have to get your car tuned if u dont want 2 blow up ur engine. try buying the hondata s300 or crome to tune it. u will also need 2 get some bigger injectors 2 run enough fuel.
it will cost u about 80 bucks per hour 2 tune it.
