I have a 1992 eclipse, non turbo 2.0
I was wondering two things:
1) Are there any perfromance computers or anything that will make my car a little faster ? I know honda has hondata, i didnt know if there was something similar to an eclipse
2)Will a galant engine bolt up to an eclipse ?

I don’t think doing stuff to the ecu will gain you much on a non-turbo. If you want performance, sell your car and get a turbo car instead. You can find a turbo 90-94 (known as a 1g or 1st gen) pretty cheap now. Instead of spending money on upgrades to your non-turbo, you could just used that money to pay for the extra cost of a turbo car after selling yours. You could spend hundreds or thousands on your non-turbo and it would still be slow.
Also, the turbo ones are fast to begin with, but can be made considerably faster for not a lot of money (like 1.5 times the power of stock for a few hundred bucks).
A 91 or pre-may 92 car would be the best to get. 90’s have a bunch of electrical stuff that is different than the 91-94’s. The late 92-94 have what’s known as a 7-bolt engine which is not quite as good as the amazing 6-bolt engine.
If you get the 4g63 engine from a Galant (DOHC 2.0), it’s the exact same engine as yours.
If you wanted to upgrade the ECU you would have to get an EPROM ECU then chip it and get DSM Link. It’s around $150 for the ECU and $500 for DSM Link. I would not recommend it since it is only the 2.0 and Non-Turbo and really not worth upgrading.
An engine from a GVR4 (Galant VR-4) would bolt up fine if you also replaced the ECU, transmission, engine harness and a bunch of other things to complete the swap.
My recomendation is to sell your car and buy a 92 GSX/TSi/RS AWD and start from there, you will be a lot happier with the performance.
