Yes, they are worth the money if you want to boost it. They have thicker ring lands and people are using them on 400 hp setups. You should also look into getting some H-beam rods while your at it and you should be good up to about 300 hp. (The rods are the weakest link of a d-series…) If you need more than 300 hp look into getting your block sleeved. ARP head studs and a good quality head gasket (not the paper composite auto zone crap ones) are a must if you boost it.
Make sure you get the YCP vitara pistons NOT the Nippon Vitara’s. Ycp pistons also have Double Holes in the wrist pin bosses to improve oiling and superior lubrication and a teflon coating for smoother start-ups. Nippons have none of this.
im pretty sure vitaras are not forged. they are good for builds in the 300hp range tho. look into a set of forged rods and arp rod and head bolts.
