5 Comments 11 August 2009

Ive gotta 1996 Honda Accord LX and wanna put in either a turbo or supercharge kit into it. I’ve never done it before and not sure how much I need to be expecting to pay or if it is worth it.

As far as car upgrades go you can do whatever you put your mind and wallet to. Figure at least $3-4,000.
Also, keep in mind you’re going to want to upgrade your fuel system too- pump, filer, fuel rail, lines maybe, injectors.
It really is a big deal to do all that stuff, but just visit some of the Honda Accord message boards because there is nothing you would have in mind to do to an Accord that someone else hasn’t already done to a Honda – including dropping in a Corvette driveline =)

i agree with the guy saying it’s not worth it, but it would run more like 5-10k because you would have to COMPLETLEY replace everything on your car.
engine (all forged materials and parts, including the block) drivetrain (transmission WILL blow up if not built or replaced with a very very strong one), tires/rims (they also will need to be able to withstand the torque and horses running through them even if it’s only 250)
not to mention that for this much money, you can buy a freaking 11 second foxbody mustang. which is soooooooo much faster than my beast of a car.
consider spending money on a car that was meant to be fast, not a car that was meant to be driven as a commuter.

it is not worth – will never pay for itself.
it is going to run you $1K to $3K, plus you should do a complete engine overhaul before due to the age of the engine.

The turbo kit will be between $3,000-$4,000 then another $1,000-$2,000 installation.
