Honda Civic Diesel Losing Power???

3 Comments 16 February 2010

Car made in 2003.
The turbo works sometimes, I was advised by a mechanic that
the problem could be to do with the sensors, (which I have replaced).
The problem is not solved, whilst driving the suddenly loses power.
Does anyone know much about turbos for this car and how to solve this problem?

    Hi
If the loss of power is as you are accelerating, ie, the power is there initially and then dies off, it could be overboosting and the power loss is actually the ECU turning down the power to prevent severe engine damage.
The over boost is usually caused by a split or insecure turbo vacuum pipe or a faulty boost control solenoid (wastegate actuator).
    Best regards

Well it could be something to do with oxygen- i seem to remember we had a problem with a car that did that it was something to do with oxygen. When my celica lost power though it was the head gasket. Tried ringing the main dealer – they often give good advice.
