Ok, I am thinking about buying a Civic. My only doubt on hand, is, how far can u go with the D series? I dont have the money to do a swap, I am still in college. so tight budget. But..I have seen a few on Car Domain with a D series and a small T3 or T4 turbo, pushing about 7-8 psi. Is that ok on stock internals?
Oh FYI, I am looking for 90-99 models..Thanks.

i own a 91 hatch si, 94 cx hatch… and some other non civic cars.. but heres what i got in the 91 si..
ported and polisded head – $350
str block guard – 100
99 ex civic stock block – 200
greddy turbo kit – 1000
dsm injectors – 100
clutch – 350
flywheel – 200
some electrical – 250
custom exhaust – 150
tuning – 200
comes out to be right under 3000 grand or so..2900 to be exact.
at 9.7 psi i made 231 wheel horse power and 188 ft lbs of torq… best quater mile time was a 12.6 at 113 miles per hour.
set up ran for about a very healthy 8 months only because i got boost happy and tried 16 psi on a tune, made 315 ponies on stock internals, but only lasted about 3 test drives.. hahaha im a d series fan, you dont need to go b series to make mad horse power. and parts are cheaper for the d series motors.. some guy is rumored to be in the 600 ponies on a d series build.. dont get me wrong a b series is great too, but unless you’re trying to make made horse power, a d series will get you where you want to go. good luck =)
If you’re making a performance car do NOT start with a Civic. You have to put SO much into them to just make them respectable. After all that a stock F-Body would blow the doors off you.
