I have a 95 honda civic dx coupe. I have invested over 16 grand in mods to the body and performance but am still running the d15 motor that came in the car off the assembly line (mind you its pushing alot more horses now at a wonderful mid 11 1/4) but i think its time for a new motor.
Im thinkig of doing a turbo b16 or an all motor b18 but cant decide which one to choose. Give me some opinions.
Pro’s and con’s


well if youir pushing 11s on the 1/4 i would hope you know what your doing to your car. to be honest if your gonna turbo out a b16 or even consider the ITR engine b18c5 i would really look for an h22 or better yet an F20B. you could turbo the h22 its really reliable. i was dropping high 10s in mine. also if your civic is running 11s in a d15 leave it alone and look into getting another car maybe an s2000 but i mean everyone has dropped b18s and b16s you can look for alot of info like at honda-tech.com. but there are not to many people with an f20b alot of people never thought it would fit becaue the f20c is from the s2000 and that will not drop into a civic no matter what but the f20b is from the european accord the accord sir-t. its got alot of hp and alittle less torque then the h22 but it can be modded alot better then the h22. tune it well or have some one tune it for you and iv seen a hatchback drop mid 8s with a fully tuned f20b. and like i said its not to often you see one in the US but the engine is sick i was actually looking to get one for my hatch but i wanted to try an american car so i got a cavalier but i might go back to honda not really likeing the american cars.
you are so full of it, a d15 in the 11s? haha you wish. a turbo motor will be faster, but n/a more reliable. id go b18
id like to know what you have done to get a eg coupe in the elevens with a d15. if you dont know what the differences in a b16 and b18 but have an eleven second sohc then im guessing you took it to a shop, handed over thousands, and drove it out. there’s a few different b16’s and b18’s, which are you considering and what are your goals. why not pish the sohc into a 10.
i say go with the b18c5. Throw some low compression pistons in it and turbo the hell out of it. Or you can get the LS block and the type R head put some 8:5:1 compression pistons in that and run 20lbs for fun. If you need a fully built type r head w/ 0 miles on it. I can get one.
haha 11 on a quarter mile? with a d15 if its like that why even get rid of the engine obvousily you already have boost or something on your engine or a really really good tune lol anyways b18 is better in many ways it has more tourqe and HP its a 1.8 instead of a 1.6 if your reffering to the b18b its not vtec as the b16 is vtec but the b16 is only a 1.6 but you probubly kno this if your running 11’s on the track LOL
