I have a 2006 honda civic SI to which i’m about to turbocharge and try to get from 197 hp, to over 300(other mods too, of course) how many years do you think this would take off my motor, if i’m only ripping on the engine once a month, just the occasional race or two?
dont turbo. if you want it to last..do header/exhaust/intake.
the civic si is slow as is..i have a stock integra ls and ive beat one.
Just one rip would be all that it would take if you overheat, and scortch the bearings in the hottest moving parts.
The mods may be ok, and the work may be OK, but use the absolute BEST oil you can get, and think about oversizing the oil pump, and getting more oil flow on some of the critical
areas. In my experience, it is vapourizing the oil and running dry that kills the hot bearings – it can take only minutes, and once done, the whole engine is hurtin
First of all, you won’t get to 300 HP by just adding a turbo. Second, if you are going to build an engine that far, you will not be able to run straight gas in it. Now, the nuts and bolts….you will need to drop the deck, mill the head, put in high dome pistons, put on the turbo, add nitros, put in a cam, and you may have to put a brace on the lower end. This won’t reduce the life of the engine as long as you run purple or methanol. Good luck. May be easier to order a Honda crate engine already set up.
