I have a friend who just bought a used Honda Civic coupe, and he says it has somewhere around 180-190 horsepower, and from what I’ve heard, Civic’s only have about 130 horsepower. I keep telling him that his car does NOT have anywhere near that much, but he’ll bring it up again eventually. So, is he lying and would there even be any way to get a Civic to have 180-190 horsepower (besides getting a turbo/supercharger)?
Also, I would like to have something to say to him that proves that he does not have that much horsepower, so any advice on that would be helpful too.

The current 06-09 Civic has 140hp.
The current 06-09 Civic Si has 197hp.
How old is the coupe?
Is it a manual 6 speed transmission? Si only comes in this configuration.
You can get the proof you need from the Honda website.
depends on the year of the coupe this would be very helpful.
also is the car in its stock form,
typically civic’s are 100hp-200hp stock.
92-95 civic 100-120hp
96-00 civic 100-120hp, 99-00 civic si 160hp
01-05 civic 115-130hp, 03-05 Si was a hatchback so N/A
06+ civic 138hp, 06+ Si 197hp.
09 Civics have about 197 hp.
It doesnt get 0-60 fast though, but it also doesnt have a high top speed.
To prove it?
its a small engine. i would compare it to another car that has the same engine and hp match.
idk why your friend is so showy about a honda civic?
to prove it (dont street race)
0-60 is an ok test but dont do anything illegal
hope that helps!
depends on year Model and engine type, 1996- 2000
1.6L Single Over Head Camshaft (SOHC) = 130 hp standard.
1.6L Doubble Over Head Camshaft (DOHC) = 160 hp standard.
with an exacust system, air intake system and De-cat you might pull an extra 8hp from the Dohc engine.
sounds like a typical ricer statement.
the common modifiable civics:
92-95:
dx/lx 100
ex 126
96-00
dx/lx 107
hx 115
ex 130
All civics have less than 10 horsepower
