10 Comments 08 October 2009

I know nothing about cars and stuff, and i just want to know how to make my 2000 Honda Civic EX have more horsepower and go faster. And I don’t have enough money to get a turbo. Any suggestions?

well i have the same year, make and model but mines a coupe and 5 speed manual.
    1. put on performance spark plugs, wires, distributor cap
    2. get either a cold air intake or regular air intake
    3. get headers
    4. get an exhaust

    Add a sport muffler.

An aftermarket muffler, cold air intake, headers, perf. chip, and ECU get you little hp with a lot to spend(almost the cost of a turbo). all you get from these is just a loud noise. IMO, waste of money. Save up my friend, save enough for the turbo and it’s the only way to make your Civic EX faster. I’m saving almost enough for a Greddy or RRM turbo kit for my ride.

get a cold air intake and a exhaust system or an ecu upgrade if its a stick shift then get a short throw shifter preformance sparkplugs and sparkplug wires

cold air intake, cat back exhaust…..that would run you about 400$ total. don’t get ebay anything tho they are junk.. k&n intake kits are good so is injen

Best bang for the buck, swap in a 99-00 Civic SI B16, convert it to manual and you will be VERY pleased. To put it simply, your car puts down 106.1 HP at the wheels. when you add a Weapon R intake, Greddy EVO2 exhaust, and Greddy Header your car puts down 120 HP at the wheels. So basically for $1,500 you get 14 HP. OR you swap in a B16, convert it to manual, and you get 145 HP at the wheels, a better motor, a 5-Speed, and the potential for even more power. the total on this is $4,000. Heres a link for the idiots that think a cold air intake, exhaust and header will give you 50 HP. http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/tech/…

For a small budget and to the maximum out of what you’ve got i would say to add:
    iridium spark plugs
    performance exhaust
    k&n air filter
    performance chip
    remapped ECU
then you should either add a suspension kit to aid the handling or you could go full out and strip the interior to make it go faster because there is less weight for the car to pull.

get an exhuast system. that means the whole thing not just the muffler tip like must kids do wit a honda. also a aftermarket air intake. or hell dont be like every honda out there tryin 2 be fast just do the inside. such as audio. or hell i put in blue L.E.D.s in my friend air vents. when u push in the cig. lighter the lights come on. i also installed short blue neons on the floor between the seats an the door. so when he hits that button the whole inside of the car is blue 2 match his blue headlights.

don’t listen to any of these morons. they don’t know what there talking about. (spark plugs, distributor cap, lol)
If you want to go fast, don’t go for any cheap stuff. You have an Automatic so a turbo is out of the question cause it takes time for the turbo to spool and you have no control over the shifting, a Supercharger would be much better in your case. If you don’t have all the money right now you always have other options like a nitrous kit will cost you about 500 dollars and HAVE a Professional install it. don’t forget to improve exhaust flow with headers and cat-back. PUt a cold air intake, bigger throttle body, some stage 1 camshafts, and top it off with a peformance chip to combat the fuel cut off and improve air/fuel ratio. don’t even worry about anti-roll bars, strut bars, springs , who cares about that, its not like your gonna take it to the race track, all you wanna do is go straight.
