Big question. First of all, bear in mind that you are going to ruin that engine at about 70,000 miles or sooner depending on how much psi you put in it–it isn’t meant to handle boosted psi.
Turbo will run about $3,000 to $4,000 and supercharged will be $6,000 plus. Those prices should include install.
How much power you want to make is completely up to you–they make all sorts of turbos and superchargers. You can gain anywhere from 30hp to well over a hundred. The more power you gain the higher the psi going into your engine. The higher the psi the faster your engine will die.
Also remember resale value. Having a supercharger or turbo charger will generally decrease the resale value–not increase it! The next buyer doesn’t want an engine where they know someone has done major mods. Who knows how it’s been driven, if the work was done well etc.
Finally remember you’ll need to call your insurance company after the mod is complete to tell them you want additional coverage for your car. Most policies only have $1,000 of custom parts and equipment covverage–you’ll need to buy a rider for extra coverage or they’ll just pay you average value without the upgrades if it’s ever stolen or totaled in an accident. You also might end up with a higher insurance premium because of the added horsepower.
Oh yeah, one more thing. No more warranty on that car. Some company’s warranties even become null on the bumper to bumper parts if you do an engine mod–”oh you’ve got a supercharger, sorry we can’t cover that power seat.”
turbo would be the best for your honda,i have a supercharger on mine and wished i wuold have went with the turbo.you are going to pay a bit more for the turbo but you will enjoy it alot more
