I Need A Engine Swap For A 97 Honda Prelude ?

2 Comments 27 October 2009

I don’t want a weak engine. I need something with a lot of horsepower. i currently have a h22 engine inside. It is turbo charged but I want an engine that can handle the abuse.

H22 is one of the best Honda engines. Most people rip them out of Preludes and stuff them into Accord and Civics. You can stick with the H series or go through a ton of work to swap in a K20. Your best bet is to build the H22 for more boost:
    Pistons
    Rods and bearings
    More aggressive cams
    Hondata tuning
    3inch exhaust
    Big turbo
and hope it doesn’t go BOOM!

Like the above guy said, I’d stick with the H22, and build it BETTER this time!
    Turbo
    Individual Throttle Bodies
    New pistons, rods, crank
    Bigger/stronger valves
    Aggressive cams
    etc…
If you *really* want a swap with a new engine, do a K20 or something newer and more modern. A B18 swap would be pretty pointless; although the B18 will redline higher which is cool, and you can build it up to really high horsepower, you’re losing .4 liters of displacement which will mean a lot when you turbo it.
