Just buy an early wrx, you can get them cheap with a factory turbo already installed. Then you can use the money for the turbo to buy other goodies.

In my opinion, it's no longer worth to spend the money to turbo a car anymore. Turbo altogether costs like 5,000$ - 6,000$. This includes purchasing the turbo, all the components for the turbo to work, and the labor. For turbo to even be compatible with your car, a lot of OTHER stock parts in the car has to be changed. Some include brakes / suspensions, and etc...
Also keep in mind that turbo does not last forever. If you drive the car a lot, the turbo will die within a few years. They have a life of their own and it's pretty short (in my opinion).
You're looking at spending 12,000$ on a car that will only have a turbo and no other modifications. For $2,000 more you can get an Evo which already comes with Brembo brakes, recaro seats, a good looking body, a turbo, etc...
In my opinion. People only turbo and hook up old cars as project cars in which they do themselves as a hobbie. Unless you know a whole lot about how cars work, and what goes where (down to the core), it'll be difficult to mess with the stuff.
