Turbo all the way
A supercharger draws power from engine. A turbo charger doesn’t but it does have turbo lag
i would personally go for a turbo.
and (wtfitsnguyen) please dude do not even answer another honda ?. you cant even get any power out of turbo at a low rpm moron thats why most people set them up for 3-4 rpm
It can also depend on a lot of other factors like price and what motor.
You can turbo a D-series Civic with old parts from a DSM and some tuning, and it won’t cost you too much. Check out homemadeturbo.com
I’ll have to say that a turbo is better than a supercharger since the engine is so powerless in its stock form (it takes horsepower to drive a supercharger, but only takes exhaust gas to drive a turbo). Either is a colossal waste of time in the Civic as it’ll never be a world-beater anyway. Thanks for the two points. Good luck!
civics are known for their power near higher rpms. superchargers are known for the same thing. turbochargers give out power at low rpms. go with the super charger. and please dont put on a fart can. i hate hearing those when i am on the streets.
Side by side, a turbo engine will make the same power as an (otherwise identical) supercharged engine, but will use less fuel.
Supercharged engines have to work quite a bit harder (internally) to make the same HP at the flywheel as a turbo engine will.
GEEZ these people are idiots. OK to explain things better, a supercharger works from a belt turned by your crank so the power output it limited to what the engine revs at. The turbo charger works from exhaust gasses passing from the engine into the turbo then reentering the combustion chamber from the impeller which spins in the area of 60,000-100,000 rpms. This is what creates “boost.” Alot also depends on whether the civic is an auto or manual. On an automatic car the supercharger will work best due to its power output from the belt, the power will be immediete, and through the entire RPM band. On a manual the best choice is turbo, The turbo needs higher RPM’s to “spool up” which its really just compressing air to send to the intake, then at the pre determined RPM the compressed air is then discharged to create the extra power. Aftermarket turbos dont really do well on auto cars due to the need to REALLY mash the gas to get anything from it. They both have the pros and cons, but in general the turbo will give you more output potential, with a little more work, while the supercharger is best for immediete power but is VERY limited in its output potential.
Listen to hondab16… I would personally go turbo… I think superchargers are more for the muscle, low end grunt motors… for the high rev of the honda a turbo may build boost faster…. less lag time….
