My question is, is there a fully programmable ecu out there for my 2002 impala, and who makes it?? ive got a 3.8L V6 bored 30 over with dual turbos home made intake, and fuel rails so I need to be able to program every thing. can you help? thank you buck.moore@usmc.mil Cpl Moore, United States Marine Corp

There are many programmers that can change settings on your ecu, but if your looking for a fully programmable, check these companies out; Accel/DFI, AEM plug & play, Autronic, Edelbrock, EFI technologies, Electromotive, F.A.S.T., Haltech, Holley, MoTeC, and Simple Digital Systems (SDS). These are all quite pricey starting at $2,000 to $25,000. If you need info on programming, the best source I’ve found was a book titled “Building & Tuning High Performance Fuel Injection” by Ben Strader. This book explains in detail each part of your fuel injection system and gives you equations to help figure out your set up. It also has a chapter for all the companies I have listed. There is also HP Tuners, a new company that claims to fully program your current ecu with a connection from your OBD port to a laptop, and they do make one for your car. This will cost you $500 to $650. It seems alot easier and less costly than the previous listed. Their website is http://www.hptuners.com. GM High Tech Performance magazine has an article all about them in their july 06 issue. Hope all of this helps.
It’s not advertising it’s being proud!!! U.S. Military leads the way!!! Matthew.Herman@us.army.mil SPC Herman, mechanic (Keep’n em rollin’. Currently deployed in Iraq.) United States Army.
Real Marines do advertise as my Father has SEMPER FI pasted across his bak window about 3′ by 5′. Any way to answer your question the pcm is programmable you just need to contact hypertech or superchips to find one of there shops near you that does the dyno download setup. It will run around 1200.00
Nobody answers questions like this
And I doubt your USMC because real marines don’t advertise their status just to get praise.
I suggest you check you HPtuners. http://www.hptuners.com/
If you already have a laptop, this is they way you should go.
Besides tuning, you can utilize this as a scanner and data logger as well. Because you are using forced induction, I highly suggest you get the VCM Suite GM – $649 (Enhanced I/O). This will allow you to run a wide band O2 into the scanner for accurate air/fuel ratio measurements displayed in real time. If you want to know more about tuning using this, I recommend you check out http://www.ls1tech.com. Go to their tuning section, and you’ll find a wealth of information. The people that designed HPtuners can be found there. Basically, this program will download the program from you stock PCU, allow you to manipulate it, and then upload it back to the PCU. I’ve been using this for about 2 years now, and I don’t regret getting it a bit. In fact, it’s the best tool I’ve purchased for my car. Good luck with your project man!
you need an impala forum to answer a question like that.
