I have a non turbo Honda Civic modified but its slow. 1.6 V-tec. 152 bhp.. Use the car on motorways to travel to work but sometimes i cant keep up in the fast lane when pulling out cars which are gaining speed etc. Should i sell this car to get a newer model of car or save some cash & put a turbo in>? Silly question maybe but it’s annoying me

I would stick with my old car until it’s completely broken down. Until you are forced to buy a new one. It’s better you wait because they will make cars that will only run on electricity. Another idea is one of those Hyundai’s, because even if it costs more than than a car that runs on gasoline, in the long run it will save you more money then you’d expect.
I would have the car checked over first as it seems to suggest that it may be under performing. Suggest you check the obvious (air filter, plugs, etc) and then get an opinion from a Honda mechanic. Honda cars are highly rated in the industry and your model is a reasonable performer, you should not be having the problems you are. If you want white knuckle performance then you need to consider the usual suspects (scoobies, evo’s, etc) as it would probably be cheaper and better to trade yours in for one. Insurance is always a problem when upgrading a model to a higher spec, often requiring an engineers report, brake and suspension upgrades and other expenses.
I would buy a new one. Adding a turbo could ask for trouble. Might as well get a new, faster one. I think one of the fastest option (I could think of) is a Golf GTI? The 2.0 with DSG is super fast (or just the stick), the new can be picked up around $22K (with auto, sunroof) or get a used one, like year old for a few thousand less…I had one with the DSG, it pulled so fast, that little car is amazing for it’s price and feels “luxurious” compare to an Impreza WRX. Or a stick Impreza (not WRX) should be fine for about $16.5K. This way you have warranty too.. Depends how much $ you can spend.
i’d go with jerry.
if your car can’t keep up, something is wrong with it. my 53 hp metro will hold 80 mph if i ask it to, my 130 hp toyota will hold 95 in the fast lane. your car needs work.
air filter, oil cahnge, plugs, wires, injector cleaner, trans check. if those don’t work, see a mechanic, there’s really no excuse for that car not to perform better than that. it should hold 105 easily.
all speeds given in MPH, 80 is roughly 130 kph, 95 is about 150 kph and 105 is around 170 kph.
