If so how is the turbo affecting the cars reliability? Any major mechanical problems?
Since we haven’t moved beyond fossil fuels yet, I’m thinking that the car in today’s world with the highest efficiency and lowest emmisions would have a common rail, turbocharged, intercooled, hybrid diesel engine (diesel + electric), and would run on either biodiesel or ultra low sulfur diesel. Does such a car exist yet, anywhere in the world, or is anything similar coming down the pipeline? I know that VW is switching to common rail in 2008, but as far as I know, they have no hybrid in the line-up. Honda and Toyota have the hybrids, but have shunned diesel in the US market ever since GM ruined the reputation of diesel here in the late 1970s with their horrible Oldsmobile diesel engine. If I understand correctly, diesel can burn clean with the proper technology, but older engines didn’t burn the diesel efficiently, resulting in black clouds of soot.
That’s a good price that will fit and work on the stock engine or does it have to be a different engine.
