i plan on adding turbo so keep that in mind

I added a new walbro fuel pump to my 92 honda civic HB and a new Fuel pressure regulator, because I have a turbo on it now. Before i added the pump and regulator the car was fine BUT the turbo was giving 2much air so it slow the car down, and now when i turn the car on and press the gas it just goes very slow and shuts down on me. I asked a friend and he told me i have to Re time the timing belt bc the is more gas going to the engine, now I’m like why would i have to re time it when it was fine and i didn’t play with the timing belt, but idk about vars much. can any1 tell me what is wrong to my car or close to what is wrong please ; ;! i have an 06 Honda Civic LX. i got a cold air intake, ECU upgrade, high performance spark plugs. im not interested in installing a turbo or supercharger. but what else could i do to improve performance?
