Upgrading My Car’s Performance Is A Good Decision?

5 Comments 13 February 2010

I bought a Greddy Turbo kit for my honda civic si “08″ I have the warranty for it and I can return it, but should I go ahead with it and let my mechanic install it? It says it will boost 100+ horspower in the engine so how much millage will I loose? would It break over time? would I have to have lots of repairs later on?

You’ll lose about 25% in mpg if you use it often. It forces fuel into your engine and that means less mpg. It does improve HP about 40-50% but not 100hp.for your engine. It can break your engine with the pressure, so be careful, the original engine wasn’t designed for the pressure.

If you have the cash, and the WANT for a Greddy Turbo kit, then knock yourself out. You cant have one without the other. Boosting a cars performance works it harder, and decreases the lifespan of the engine. 100+ HP is a substantial gain for any engine. Everything is working harder now. Use the best oil, always change it more often. The cheapest “out” on car repairs, is good maintenance. And mileage???? Kiss it goodbye. Pick one……performance, or gas mileage.

it’s a reliable part but it’s not a very good turbo kit as far as max horspwer. i’m sure it won’t break over time. my cuzz never has had a problem with any of his turbo kits but he spent 6k or more so yeah. nothing should happen tho. i would get a better one for the civic
