What More Can I Do To Improve My Performance Of My 92 Honda Civic?

4 Comments 04 August 2009

Right now i currently have a 92 civic sedan with a skunk 2 exhaust, a 4-2-1 header, and a cool air intake on a d15b7 motor. I am looking for suggestions as to what more can i do to it, besides turbocharging it, or replacing it to improve the performance i got out of it.

port and polish the head w/ a 5 angle valve job, chip ecu, stage 2 cam. My best advice Gudeperformance.com. They make a head package for your vehicle and they guarantee 57 HP to the wheels.

So far, what you’ve done, hasn’t done anything for your car.
If you have actually taken it to a dyno, you would have seen all the money you wasted on the exhaust, header, and intake, only got you about 6 wheel horsepower.
    That’s all.
Great way to “upgrade” your performance. You would have gotten about the same, from a basic tune up.
If you want actual performance, you have to spend money to get it. Upgrade the pistons, get the heads ported and polished, etc. Right now, all you’re doing is pissing money away on stuff that won’t make your car the slightest bit faster.
6 Hp in a car that weighs around 2500lbs? Won’t make a single bit of difference in a 1/4th mile. I’m sure it sounds different, and you probably “FEEL” the new performance, but take it to a track, and see where you actually stand.

Lower the front to get more traction
Get semi racing tires or go with racing slicks if you have the money
put a 97 civic EX head on the D15 block to get better low end power and higher end power.
    Take out back seats
Take out AC and power steering
Replace internals pistons, rings, rods, camshaft, cam gears, valves, pullys.
    Hope this helps
