The answer to that question isn’t simple and clear cut: there are many factors to consider when sizing a turbo. How much power do you want it to make, and what do you want the powerband to look like? Is the engine staying stock or are you gonna upgrade the bottom end? Is it gonna be a daily driver or a track/drag car? What kind of gas (octane rating) is available to you? Intercooled or non-intercooled? How much are you looking to spend?
Anyways, here’s my best answer: All things being equal, on a stock street driven D16 I would recommend a T3 .48/.60. It spools up pretty quick and makes good power. There are bigger turbos out there, but they make boost slower and would only make sense if you’re gonna build up the bottom end turn the boost up… and even then it would still be too big for your 1.6L motor. Your powerband would be very narrow, & high up the rpm range. Another alternative would be a ball bearing offering like the GT28RS.It spools very quick & are much more efficient… but they are pricier to buy and pricier to install too since you have to run water lines & stuff for cooling the turbo. If the engine is staying stock, I wouldn’t recommend boosting past about 6 or 7psi or you risk surpassing the capabilities of your stock fuel system and bottom end… and stuff will break.
first off TURBOS ARE UNIVERSAL, as long as they are physically able to fit. With a question like this you need to re-think going turbo. First off you have a OBD2 2000 Civic EX, you put a POS D16Z6 OBD1 motor in it, that makes LESS power than the D16Y8 that was already in there. What you need is a QUALITY kit that has everything you need in it. They average in price about $3,500 UNINSTALLED.
depends on what you are willing to spend.
