What Would Be A Good Engine Swap For My 96 Honda Civic ?

2 Comments 29 September 2009

I got a 96 honda civic with it’s piece of **** stock engine thats all messed up. I have alot of money to spend, and i would buy another car but I really like the body kit I got on it and i got a very nice stereo system in it. Im going to race with it so I need an engine that can handle a turbo and i need lots of hp. any suggestions ?

k20a1 and make sure it has a vtec head or you can get a h22a dohc thats if your willing to work a little bit but gut your car and turbo a k20 not much can beat you, you could proally rip apart any muscle car gto’s,chargers, challengers, mustangs, gran am’s gran prix’s and g8’s you weigh like 2000lbs and you’ll have close to 300hp with the right tunning kits and turbo parts.

id recommend a B18C1 out of an 1996 integra type-r. they are very tuneable and run 195bhp from standard. if you upgrade cams, headers, pistons etc and then force induction, either supercharge of turbo. from what people have told me (they have done it themselves.) vtec engines run better supercharged (ideally positive displacement supercharger) than turbo’d, but both work if engine is upgraded to handle it.
with that done you can be putting out 350+ bhp and more!
should go in easily aswell, ive been in a 98 ek civic with standard b18, and its very fast!
if thats not enough bhp you can so a K20A swap and if you have deep pockets you can get 500 + bhp and wipe out ferrari’s! (i know someone who has civic with k20 and runs faster quarter mile times than a ferrari f430!)
