for just a basic kit running low psi, not a whole lot. a chipped ecu bigger injectors and in the case of the h22 the piston ring lands are a huge failure point. so after market pistons are a must there. besides that nothing. you can run 8-10 psi on a stock honda motor all day daily (depending on engine family). b-series will accept boost in stock trim quite nicely (given you have a complete name brand kit and also tuned properly). d-series are also the same but less psi levels are desired (bout 8 max).
the tune is the most important part. also a good leak down test will determine if the motor is acceptable for boost. I suggest staying away from any ebay kit, I recommend getting one from edelbrock, greddy, peak boost and so on. you could also go the home made kit, I suggest reading homemadeturbo.com for more information on how to do this. also clubcivic.com, honda-tech.com and so on are full of information on what kits work well and what kits well just plainly suck. don’t listen to the ******* homo that posted first. that **** is not required for low boost at all.
u’ll need harder pistons, conrods, crankshafts, cylinder head, valves or anything that makes it durable at high engine speeds.. upgrade your cooling system by adding an oil cooler and intercooler (water injected if u wanna get serious).
