Whats The Best Performance Engine To Put Into A 88-91 Honda Crx Si?

3 Comments 09 August 2009

im thinking about starting a project car. i want to build an 88-91 crx si into a car i can take to the track on weekends. i chose a honda because parts are easy to find and are cheap for the most part. but im not sure what engine swap to go with. all i know so far is that it has to be turbocharged. i would like to keep it street legal so i can drive it over to the track. anyone have any suggestions on a decent engine to use? im not worried about cost, as this will be an ongoing project for somthng to do on my spare time and not a quick attempt to create a cheap fast and furious rip off.

if you want it to be a track car then find an HF crx. way lighter. Si’s are heavy. its all in power to weight ratio.
k20 is the best motor for that car if price isnt a problem. a turbo k20 would be ridiculously fast.. but the ef engine bays are small and cramped. a 92 vx hatch is actually lighter than an Si crx and has way more room to work with..and is already obd1.
of course a boosted gsr is a great swap too.. its all in the tune.

I suggest a Rolls Royce Trent 1000 (look it up, then realize i’m kidding).
Really though, i suggest the 88-91 B16A engine.

H22A is the best engine so far. I would say the K20 but that seems to costly.
