Which Vehicle Is Better When Modded, The 08 Vw Gti Or The 08 Honda Si?

In other words if i were to buy either, which car would respond better to modifications: si with a supercharger/turbo or upgraded turbo on the gti with the works?

There are likely more parts available for a Honda than a VW. The Japanese makes are more easily modded because of all of the manufacturers making and testing equipment for them.
I own a Dodge and Mopar (Dodge’s parts division) seems to be the source for most of the mods. Meanwhile, car magazines have many ads listing thousands of parts for Japanese makes. It is disconcerting that I need to rely on a corporation to design parts that push the envelope rather than an entrepreneur driven by a real desire to innovate and get more power out of a car.
    Get the Honda.

that question is like saying which should a mod a ford or a BMW. They are in completely different classes. Plus I would hate to see a VW GTI all goofy and modified. Buy the Honda

The GTI is a better choice, hands down. It is already turbo charged and with basic boltons and an ECU upgrade you can hit almost 300WHP.
With the Si, you can also unleash a lot of HP but the problem with hondas is that you have to rev the crap out of it to make power.
VW turbo cars always have the smaller quick spooling turbos to give you that kick, even around town.

The Honda would probably be easier to find parts for. I bet the two cars would respond about the same to the mods, but the Si is much lighter than the GTi, so each gain in power would be even more significat.

The GTI is the Better car, has the higher build quality and better driving dynamics but the Civic will be cheaper to own and mod and will probably be more reliable in the long run. but if you are asking which will be the car when modded i would say the GTI although it will likely cost more to do right.

You can tune the VDUB easier for less money if you only want a bit of power increase, a chip will take it up around 25% more power without any other mods. Bigger turbo and intercooler will give you impressive power gains but they are expensive.
Suspension and wheels are the only exterior mods the VW needs its cool already as it is.
The Civic would cost more to get the same power gains but it will be easier to get bolt on mods. Supercharge the engine and it will then have torque down low plus you will have 300+bhp. Difficult choice…

im gonna say your best best would be to get a mazdaspeed6 or mabey a mazda 6s with the 3.0liter v6 and then turbo it.
or mabey the 08 honda accord v6 with 244hp and turbo that.
that woud be the best deal. i would go with the gti and e=get new exhaust, cold air intake, mabey a little harder springs,, it will handle alot better than the civic.
another route is mabey spend the money on a used wrx sti or mazdaspeed mazda 3 or 6.
or if you dont mind american you can find an 01 chevy camaro z28 for around 11 or 12000, drop a vortec in it, change the spings, put in magnaflow ans kn cold air and ou can get an easy 500hp outta it, it’ll smoke everything listed above. for the same price

  8. C7S says:

I would say the GTI because the engine is designed for turbocharging and it has all the parts needed for turbochargers since it already has one. The GTI also has 3 more HP than the Civic SI.
Both cars are tuner cars designed to be tuned so choose what you like best.

I think the Honda Si because a lot of car manufacturers build there cars on purpose so they can’t be easily modified. But I think the japanese tend to make those kind of cars just for the import scene
