    Manual advantages:
    Slightly lighter
Slightly better as mileage, if driven properly
They shift exactly when you want them to
    Automatic advantages
No dry clutch to replace: they never will need a clutch job.
As long as they keep fluid in them they last almost forever.
They will upshift to a higher gear automatically, meaning better gas mileage than an “improperly” shifted manual
The shift linkage is simpler,. and there is no clutch linkage
Since the shift is automatic there is one less thing for the driver to worry about, making them perhaps a bit safer.
Driver fatigue is lessened, especially in city driving
An automatic is easier for an inexperienced or beginning driver to use, and it’s harder to tear up an automatic by shifting it wrong.
As to speed: the automatics are very close to the manuals nowadays, but I think with the right driver the stick would still win out in most cases. The only advantage the auto would have is that it shifts quicker and less often (3 or 4 shifts as opposed to 5)
In any case I’d recommend sticking with what you have in the car.
If you want something different, sell that one and get the one you want. You’ll come out cheaper!

thats a matter of opinion, manuals are cheaper to repair, give better power and performance, and some are better on fuel mileage.

What everyone else says, and, because I’m left handed, it’s much easier for me.

Depend on how you define better. A sick is more positive and direct with little or no slippage. But you have to shift which can be a nuisance in heavy traffic on on hills. Lots of guys like to shift as they perceive this is more macho.

    Sticks are better!
    1 – they’re better on gas
2 – the transmissions are cheaper to fix
I bought a car recently and I made sure to buy a stick.

ECONOFIX is correct. But lets talk HORSEPOWER.You lose anywhere from 15-25% of your horses going thru an automatic.Ask any GEAR HEAD—-For putting the PONIES on the assfault— MANUAL is it..

with a manual transmission the drive has complete control of what gear the vehicle is in. Also with the cluch the driver has more control over the vehicle as a whole. Automatic trans are not bad and many like the old fords are great but for racing a stick/manual gives the driver more control and so is preferred by more drivers.

I perfer a stick to an automatic just for personal reasons. A sports car can get more performance from a stick. This is an age old question which will be divided about 50-50. Automatics are better in stop and go city trafic. stick is more fun on a winding mountain road. My BMW Z3 is a stick and I wouldn’t have it any other way. What ever you like and want is right for you. Since yours is an automatic then be happy .
