It really depends on what you plan to use the car for. I’ll try to give as many scenarios as possible. If you’re looking for an all out drag car, I’d swap with a B18 motor from a GSR and go turbo from there. The extra torque will get you going. The H22 is a possible alternative, but it isn’t as well supported, and the H series block was never meant to be in your car, so the swap would be more difficult. Then again, the B16 will make reasonable power too. If you were planning on using this as a daily driver I’d just keep the B16 and turbo it. You’ll still be able to make plenty of power, but if you drive it normally you’ll benefit from the smaller motors gas efficiency. It really all depends on how much you want to spend. By the time you spend the money on swapping ANY motor into your Del Sol you could’ve already turbo’d the B16 and be making twice the power. Up to you. Good luck!
An h22/del sol-civic swap is never easy, and should only be done if you don’t want to keep little things like power steering and a/c, and want to relocate the alternator and battery. chances are you will also need front end suspension mods to support the extra weight properly, and to make enough room for the larger radiator you would need to do it right. subframe welding and custom motor mounts will also be involved, as will all the super-fun ecu stuff.
for a swap, the ideal motor would be a b18c5 us spec type-r, if you have money to burn. if you don’t, keep the b16a and slap on a nice little greddy or turbonetics kit making about 6-7 psi. the stock internals should hold up to this, and you won’t have to sell a kidney.
as with all projects, make sure your brakes, tires and suspension are legit before adding any major power. this will save you headaches, and possibly your life.
